Alignment
by Minister Tammy Rankin

I was speaking to a dear friend today whom I really love. When someone you love is out of line you want to help that person to come in line.

This individual said that people are always saying that God said this or that. “God is not doing all that talking". My heart went out to her. Everyday God is talking and if you are listening he will talk to you. It may be through the word of God written in the bible. It may be through individuals. It may be through a song. God may be speaking through the Holy Spirit directly to your spirit. To give you an example of what I am talking about. I was driving into work this morning and I noticed a guy jogging along with his dog. Now ordinarily this would not be unusual but there was something not quite right about the dog. The dog was faced forward but his body seemed to be running in a slant or angle. I began to ask God about why the dog ran that way. What came to mind was where I had seen a similar situation. The Holy Spirit will bring things back to your remembrance. I had seen this before on a car that had been hit in an accident and was not driving straight but in a slant. I knew that the car needed a serious alignment. It was damaged. As I looked at that dog I knew that he was damaged and was not running in line with where he was going. I knew that God was speaking to me concerning running forward but not in alignment.

I became curious about how the word alignment was defined in the dictionary. As I researched the new international dictionary I found that to be in align meant to arrange or place in a line; bring into line. To fall into line. I began to think about my life. I thought at times that I was really going someplace. I was running but as times I felt off center. I was running for God but my alignment was off. When you recognize that something is wrong and you are not going through life as you should and problems seem to come up often. You start examining everything in your life as to why. I was stumbling over things that had I been going straight I would have missed. I was crooked, twisted, and damaged. I needed to be put in line. I began to think about what a mechanic would do to put your car back in line. To give your car an alignment. You would take the car in and they would give you an estimate of how much it would cost and then hook your car to a machine and it would align your car. Praise be to God that Jesus was sent to die for us. Jesus paid it all. Because of the sacrifice that Jesus made we could now be hooked up to God to heal us and bring us back in line. To many of us recognize that something is wrong and want to do things their own way. They want to cut corners by taking their car to the alley mechanics instead of the manufacturer.
